Supply Chain Management

Background

Working across the six main RAF bases throughout the UK - RAF Leuchars in Scotland and RAF Leeming, Marham, Coningsby, Brize Norton and Odiham in England - we provided infrastructure services for planned and reactive maintenance, statutory compliance, small new works and ordered works programmes.

What We Did

The development of our supply chain played an important role in our delivery solution and we managed numerous companies, across a wide spread of locations, providing a broad range of services. To do that, we engaged  with local companies  to provide the services that supported each RAF Base and select the sort of suppliers who would not only perform well,  but would also be prepared to challenge the status quo in the interests of providing  greater efficiencies.

In managing their performance, we engaged   with our supply chain through Supplier Engagement Forums and monitored their performance through a balanced, KPI- based score card, as well as conducting Quarterly Business Reviews with the key suppliers.

The Results

We successfully built and managed local, sustainable supply chains that provided sustainable employment, so retaining both knowledge and wealth within the local economies.

We learned from each others’ experiences and shared best practice with the supply chain over the entire estate.

We drove continuous improvement and efficiencies through our supply chain, which was critical in improving the delivery of services and providing value for money to our clients.
